In this Document
Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Information in this document applies to any platform. SDP2 has generated an alert with a 1102 Drive Source Empty SDP2 has generated an alert with a 1104 Drive Destination Full Error 1102, the library reported the drive source was empty during a dismount request. The Host application sends the request to the library for dismounts, if there is no tape in the targeted drive the library will treat and report on the dismount request as an error. Error 1104, the library reported the drive destination was full during a mount request. The Host application sends the request to the library for drive mounts. If the drive is already loaded with a tape from a previous mount request the library will treat it and report on it as an error. This can be caused by several factors at the Host application, i.e. incorrect drive mappings, someone manually removing the tape out of the drive, drive resource allocation management, mount request was sent before previous job had a chance to complete the rewind/unload request, or the cartridge database that is out sync with the library. Verify the current state of the drive via SLC; Tools---System Detail-----Open Drive Folder. If the cartridge is still loaded verify the Host has finished with the tape and issue an unload command from the Host. If the tape is missing search for the tape using the volume manager. If the issue is repetitive verify the back-up application is configured correctly. If necessary re-synchronize the cartridge database, run and complete the SLC Hardware Audit; SLC; Tools---Diagnostics---Audit Tab---Entire Library Yes. Then follow up and complete the Host software cartridge audit. PurposeHow to determine if the alert received is a valid issue or could have been caused by a delay in time between mounting or dismounting a tape cartridge from a drive. Troubleshooting StepsLog into SLConsole via the local op panel or a remote session. A remote session is preferred since it will be easy to generate and collect a log snapshot all if you believe this to be a problem with the library or tape drive. Under Tools in SLConsole select Diagnostics. Make sure you've selected the top Library: 1,0,0,0,0 In the diagnostics menu select Audit. In your alert description you should have received either of the 2 messages similar to the following FSC(1102): Drive source empty -getArgs, sourceAddress=1,3,-1,1,1 cartridge=unknown FSC(1104): Drive destination full - checkStates, hliLsm=2 drive=1,3,-1,1,1 From the Audit tab in SLConsole you would click on the Physical Audit YES radial button and Verified Audit YES radial button Your Start Address should be Type = Drive Library = 1 Rail = 3 Column = -1 Side = 1 Row = 1 Your End Address would be the same as the start address since we are just Auditing the 1 drive. You should see the Audit completed message in SLConsole... See the following picture.
If you see a volser in the Audit Console you can issue a manual dismount if you're trying to remove a cartridge from the drive or make a determination of whether the cartridge is really present if you're getting a 1102 Source destination empty. If further analysis is necessary from a Oracle Technical Engineer please re-open your SR and it will be assigned accordingly. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
