Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose
iDIH and pDIH installation procedure uses the “fast deployment” utility (fdconfig) bundled with the PMAC server to install, configure and upgrade it.
This document will list first steps to understand and resolve the installation or upgrade issue.
Troubleshooting Steps
Configuration files
First, check content of the configurations files:
- fdc.cfg which is a simple text file
- xx-xx-xx.xml file which describe the different steps to be run for the installation/upgrade of iDIH. Ensure login and password are matching system credentials
- xxxx.fdcdb is a binary file containing. It is not readable as it is.
Find failed step
While installation/upgrade steps are actually running, script will output which step number failed.
To have more details what is that step, it is possible to dump all steps on console with following command:
sudo fdconfig dumpsteps --file=deploy_lab-tvoe-rms-1-upgrade_20160322T012354_4aab.fdcdb
Output example:

Dump Steps complete
In above example, failed step is number 19.
By searching the command that was run (createExt in above example) in xml file, it will be possible to know exactly which command failed.
This command might have is own log that will help to understand what failed at the time it was run.
Information needed by support
If it is not possible to find the cause of the failure, Oracle Support will need:
- Configuration files listed above
- Dumpsteps ouput
- /var/TKLC/log/fdconfig/fdconfig.log
- /var/TKLC/smac/logs/smacMonDbug.log
- /var/TKLC/smac/logs/smacTalkDbug.log
