Troubleshoot the Power Supply and the Fans from the Fault Indicators. For the IBM LTO7 drives in the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure you can troubleshoot from the Fault Indicators and by taking dumps from the drives - The front panel of the drives will give an error code on the display when the drive has encountered an error or needs to be cleaned. - The drive dumps are retrieved with the IBM ITDT tool and the drive dumps have to be sent into Oracle Support to be analyzed. IBM LTO - How to Collect Statistical and Dump Logs From IBM LTO Drives Using ITDT (IBM Tape Diagnostics Tool):ATR:1016763.1:1 (Doc ID 1016763.1) Note: There is no Service Ethernet port on the drives in the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure so you have to retrieve the drive dumps over the data path connection of the drive. This also means that these drives will not be supported by SDP2. For details on the error codes for the drive fault indicators and more in-depth troubleshooting please see the StorageTek1U RackmountTape Enclosure “Setup, Operator, and Service Guide”, which will be posted under the product documentation for the StorageTek1U RackmountTape Enclosure on the Oracle Product Page. - Chapter 5 of this guide cover LTO7 specific error codes and messages ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A couple issues have been found with mounting the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure into a rack: - It can be difficult to install the rack rails for the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure when you are installing it directly below a device that is already installed in the rack. We recommend that you leave a little room above the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure and any currently installed device in the rack. - The 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure also bows down slightly so we recommend that you leave a little room below the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure and any currently installed device in the rack. Note: If you are installing 2 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosures together in the same rack you should not need to leave any room between the 2 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure units. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Power LED indicator which is located on the Power Button on the front of the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure will tell you the following: Note: If the power cable is unplugged and then plugged back in you might have to hit the power button to power the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure back up.
