Purpose

This document provides the set of commands required to collect Hardware diagnostic information for Exalogic Compute Servers.

Troubleshooting Steps

--- Software Requirements/Prerequisites ---

The script needs to be executed as root on the Exalogic Compute server that has a problem.

The script collects diagnostic information.

The script produces a bz2.zip file which will include the following information :

- megacli information for disks/controller
- messages/dmesg file
- IB information

There are three scripts available, one for the Physical install (Linux) , one for the Virtual install (OVS) , one for Solaris

NOTE: To determine if the compute node is a physical or virtual installation.
(a) Ask SA
(b) Solaris: # cat /etc/release
     Linux: # cat /etc/redhat-release
OVS: # cat /etc/redhat-release or /etc/enterprise-release (Oracle VM server release)
You can also run an  "# xm list", if it comes back with a dom0 or some other vm's, then it's an OVS node/rack.

 Scripts Available:

Physical (Linux)  exalogic_sundiag.sh

Virtual (OVS) exalogic_sundiag-ovs.sh

Physical (Solaris) exalogic_sundiag_sol.sh

--- Important Note ---

exalogic_sundiag.sh (OEL) , exalogic_sundiag_ovs.sh (OVS) and exalogic_sundiag_sol,sh are NOT included
in the Exalogic base images. These scripts are not mean't for the 7320/ZS3-ES or Switches.

Please see the links at the end of this document for help for collecting Diagnostic information on those rack items.

--- Configuring the Script ---

Download the appropiate Exalogic Diagnostic collection script for your operating system.

Please download the script from the link abover or have your support representative upload the script to the your Service Request for download.

Copy the script to the /opt/exalogic.tools/tools directory of the compute node which has the issue.

Once the script is there, change the permissions of the script so it is executable.

# chmod 755 <script name>.sh

--- Running the Script ---

 # /opt/exalogic.tools/tools/<script name>.sh

Execution will create a date stamped tar.bz2 file in /tmp/exalogic_sundiag_<time stamp>.tar.bz2

Upload this file to the Service Request.
