Troubleshooting SL8500 PDU, Rail and Drive power supply status issues In this Document

PDU = Power Distribution Unit PurposeThis document will assist you in troubleshooting SL8500 PDU, Drive and Rail power supply status issues normally seen in SLConsole as a yellow warning for the associated power supply. Troubleshooting StepsThis document will assist you with identifying signal issues for the SL8500 PDU, Rail power supplies and Drive power supplies. All drive power supply signals are reported to the HBT card through 4 cables that only differ in length. The complete possible signal path for a drive power supply signal is HBT, HBM ( motherboard ) , HBY, cable from the HBY to HBF, HBF. All rail power supply signals are reported to the HBC card through 1 cable that has 4 connectors on one end ( HBF-P612-1 through P612-4 ) an a single connector on the other ( HBX-P204 ) The complete possible signal path for a rail power supply signal is HBC, HBM ( motherboard ), HBX, Cable from HBX to HBF, HBF, Rail Power Supply. AC PDU's 29 and 30 status signals go directly thru a cable from the PDU to the HBX card. Check front door switches and verify they are working properly.
