Purpose

How to troubleshoot a failed power supply.

Troubleshooting Steps

Facing the back of the session border controller (SBC), power supply A is on the right and B is on the left.

Verify the power switch to the supply is in the ON position. Ensure that the leads are properly connected and in the correct position. Please refer to the Hardware Installation Guide on the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) support portal to verify proper lead placement.

Re-seat (remove and reinsert) the power supply which may bring it back into service.

Ensure that the associated circuit is supplying power, power switch is ON position and the fan is running and the LED is on.

Try swapping with a spare or another power supply to determine if the problem follows the power supply or the leads / circuit connected to it.

If the power supply still does not come up, please open a service request with Acme Packet Technical Support to proceed with an RMA (returned materials  authorization) of the failed unit.

With the service request, please include the following information:
-system serial number

output of 'show prom-info main'

-site shipping address
-site shipping contact name and telephone number
-type of power supply (AC or DC)
