Troubleshooting Steps

NOTE: Please refer to Document 1535352.1 "Pillar Axiom: How to Disable Call Home to Prevent Automatic Service Request ASR Generation" before proceeding with the procedure below.

When you receive the events related to power supply issue, please check the following steps:

  1. You are doing maintenance and receive the events.

    •  If it is a planned/unplanned system maintenance and now the system is up and running, please ignore the event . Better yet, if you can turn off call-homes when you have planned maintenance, then the system will not create new Service Request based on the event.
    •  Power supply related events are occurring often in connection with maintenance work or power outlet issues.

Note: The Call-Homes are generated only when a fault occurs, not when the fault is resolved.

  2. What if many power supplies are reporting an issue at the same time?

If several power supplies are reporting a problem please double check that there is no problem with the PDU or power outlet.

  3. Verify that the power supply is getting power.

    - Reseat power cable at power supply and PDU;
    - Test with a known good PDU socket and power cable

The following events can be an indication that the power supply is not receiving power:

    Release 4 SlammerPowerSupplyFailed, SlammerPowerSuppliesFailed
    Release 5: PSPWR_NOT_GOOD, SPURIOUS_VOLT, PS_NOT_OK

  4.  Check power supply LED's

Slammer CU legacy power supply location

Slammer CU legacy power supply location

Slammer legacy power supply LED status

Slammer CU HEPS power supply location

Slammer CU HEPS location

Slammer HEPS LED status

 5.     If the problem cannot be resolved by the steps above

It might mean that the Power Supply needs to be replaced.  Support will check the event logs and take appropriate action to resolve the issue
