PurposeCannot Read / Write / Recognize Media Troubleshooting StepsPlease make sure the appropriate TBU device driver has been installed for your operating system and backup software. Refer to the backup software’s user manual for the proper configuration parameters for your backup job. Use the built-in diagnostic function “F” to test the write/read operation of the drive itself without any host attached. Run this test first to isolate tape drive related issues. Please refer to the service guide for instructions on running the diagnostic test. DP1: For the external drive, is there a code displayed on the single-character display and the status light flashes amber? Should you continue to have issues with the LTO drive in question, open a Service Request to the Oracle TSC with details of the problem and provide a LTO drive dump for analysis. Displayed Error Conditions Problem Description Error Code Cause and Recommended Action Cooling Problem 1 High temperature detected- over 48 degree C. Power Problem 2 Externally supplied power is outside of specified Firmware Problem 3 Firmware error has occurred. Power cycle the drive, Firmware or Drive 4 A drive hardware or microcode failure has occurred. Drive Hardware 5 A drive hardware problem. The drive determined that a Drive or Media 6 An error occurred, but drive cannot isolate it to faulty Media Error 7 An error occurred because of faulty media. Try another tape SCSI Bus Interface or 8 Channel failure has occurred. The error condition clears Library RS422 9 A drive hardware or RS-422 interface failure has occurred. Hardware Error A Problem occurred which degraded drive Not Assigned B ---- Clean Required C The tape drive needs to be cleaned. This condition clears once drive is cleaned. Fibre Port Offline E The Fibre Port is offline. No Fibre Light F Displayed if dip switch 3 is ‘on’ and the drive does Write Protect P Write operation to a write protected cartridge has been attempted. Fiber AL_PA conflict d 2 drives on fiber loop have the same AL_PA. Encryption Error e The drive detected a configuration or set-up error prior to an encryption operation.
