Troubleshooting StepsPlease validate that each troubleshooting step below is true for your environment. The steps will provide instructions or a link to a document, for validating the step and taking corrective action as necessary. The steps are ordered in the most appropriate sequence to isolate the issue and identify the proper resolution. Please do not skip a step.
1. Verify external power is present for the system.
2. Verify that all the PSU breakers are on AND the power cords are connected.
3. If possible (no impact for system functionality and CU availability) check if the power source is really providing power.
4. Verify that all the PSU are properly seated.
5. Verify the PSU still fails after replacing power supply.
6. Verify known issues.
Following are some examples of PSU issues collected from Prtdiag and messages files.
Power Supplies:
--------------- Current Drain: Supply Status Fan Fail Temp Fail CS Fail 3.3V 5V 12V 48V ------ ------------ -------- --------- ------- ---- -- --- --- PS0 GOOD 10 3 3 6 PS1 GOOD 10 4 3 6 PS2 FAIL 0 0 0 0 picld logs: Jul 14 09:00:39 xxxx picld[176]: [ID 307062 daemon.error] WARNING: Device PS2 failure detected
Jul 14 09:00:39 xxxx picld[176]: [ID 307062 daemon.error] WARNING: PS2 Undercurrent on one or more DC lines
Another example (solution has been to check proper seating/power cord connection): Power Supplies:
--------------- Current Drain: Supply Status Fan Fail Temp Fail CS Fail 3.3V 5V 12V 48V ------ ------------ -------- --------- ------- ---- -- --- --- PS0 GOOD 7 2 3 8 PS1 FAIL OFF OFF ON 7 2 3 8 picld logs: messages.1:Feb 14 15:15:05 xxxx picld[5408]: [ID 625010 daemon.error] WARNING: Device PS1 failure detected
messages.1:Feb 14 15:15:05 xxxx picld[5408]: [ID 702911 daemon.error] PS1_I_SHARE_FAIL_SENSOR (it may be PS0_I_SHARE_FAIL_SENSOR or PS2_I_SHARE_FAIL_SENSOR depending on the PSU)
Again another one (solution has been to reconnect the power cable on PSU2) Power Supplies: Supply Status Fan Fail Temp Fail CS Fail 3.3V 5V 12V 48V
