PurposeThis document explains the correct actions to take when a system controller or a lom Troubleshooting StepsSymptomsThe following error messages may be seen on the System Controller (SC) or lom console during SCPOST (System Controller Power On Self Test) when an SC is first powered on or it's been rebooted. The SC might also appear to be stuck in a reboot loop (never coming up to the scapp or lom prompt). NOTE: SCPOST is only seen by connecting directly to the serial port or via a loghost if one is configured. Example #1:

Above is not an exhaustive list of error examples possible.
CauseThe root cause of this issue is a dying (or dead) battery which is located on the System Controller (SC). NOTE: The battery is located on an IDPROM card which is on the SC itself.
SolutionNeither the IDPROM card, nor the battery is replaceable. The System Controller (SC) must be replaced.
Customers must contact Oracle Support by opening a Service Request and mention this knowledge article. Please have the console log file showing the error messages in question available so as to speed up resolution and dispatch. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
