Symptoms

Hosts can not see targets
Hosts zoned by port can not see targets
Hosts can not see target while in Open Fabric Interop Mode

Resolution

One reason for this to occur is that the Interop Mode for the switch is set in Open Fabric 1.0 and zoning is done by Domain, Port. McData does not support Domain, Port zoning while in Open Fabric 1.0 Interoperability Mode. This can be confirmed in the <Document: 1015627.1>  Product Information log file.

Resolution Options

  • Change from Open Fabric Interop Mode to McData Fabric Interop Mode
    • From EFCM 8 do the following:
      1. Login as Administrator level use
      2.  <Document: 1015743.1> Disable the switch
      3. Select Configure
      4. Select Switch
      5. Select Fabric Parameters
      6. From the pull down on Interop Mode, choose McData Fabric 1.0
      7. Select OK
      8.  <Document: 1015743.1>  Enable the switch
    • From CLI do the following:
      1. Root> maint system setOnlineState 0
      2. Root> config switch interopMode McData
      3. Root> maint system setOnlineState 1
  • Change from Domain, Port zoning to WWN zoning.

Switch is in Open Fabric 1.0 Interop Mode and is doing Domain, Port based
zoning.
Interop Mode is for connecting switches in a heterogeneous vendor environment.
If all of your switches in the fabric are McData switches, Open Fabric Mode is
not suggested.
McData
Hosts can see drives if switch is bypassed
