Goal

Only T10KD drives are used in the SL8500 or SL3000 tape library. Why does the library's Cartridge Summary show T10000C in the Media column if the media has only been written to using T10000D drives?  Shouldn't it show the density of the media as T10000D?

Solution

The SL8500 and SL3000 Cartridge Summary on the SLConsole will only show Media as T10000C for all T2 media whether the tape was written by T10000C or T10000D. The library defaults to reporting T10000C for all T2 media. There is nothing from the library perspective that will show T10000D for media/density because the library does not know what type of drive wrote on the T2 media.
