Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 7.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

/etc/hosts shows the incorrect DNS for IPFEA on all servers. The first 2 rows in the example below show IPFEA in Enclosure 1 Bay 14 (E1B14) which is actually IPFEB. IPFEA is in Enclosure 2 Bay 16 E2B16 shown in rows 3, 4, and 5 below.

xxx.xx.xx.xx e1b14IPFEA-XSI1 e2b16IPFEA-XSI1
xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx e1b14IPFEA-XSI2IPV6 e1b14IPFEB-xsi2ipv6

xxx.xxx.x.xx e2b16IPFEA e2b16IPFEA-xmi
yyy.yyy.y.yy e2b16IPFEA-internalimi
xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx e2b16IPFEA-XSI2IPV6

Before correcting this entry on all servers in the platform, can we confirm that this will not lead into any complications?

Solution

In DSR release 7.3.1 named service is used for FQDN resolution. So entries in /etc/hosts become redundant.
You can check configuration files like /etc/resolve.conf , /etc/named.conf and /var/named/db.platform.cgbu.us.oracle.com (on active NOAM)
You can also check for service "named" should be running on the NOAM.
