Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

To respond to the following question:

If VLAN ids are updated from the IP network side while keeping subnet/IPs as it is, will it impact DSR/SDS system?

Solution

In this Document

VLAN IDs are configured directly on to the servers and via the switches. The vlan IDs like the IPs are an integral part of the system and a change to those entries would require a rebuild as there is currently (ask of DSR 8.2) no way to edit a network element file on a running system.

If however the vlan change is in the customer internal network (that would route to the unchanged vlan IDs on the DSR system) then that can happen without changes to the DSR as long as the proper routing is setup in the customer internal network to allow messaging to flow as before.
