Oracle Communications EAGLE (Hardware) - Version E5-MS 45.0 and later
Tekelec

Goal

Measurement files are not generating in OCEEMS.

Solution

Follow these steps for troubleshooting the Measurements transfer:

  1. Check connectivity between Eagle and OCEEMS
  2. Check for Eagle UAMs to see if the ftp transfer is failing. If yes, then check the error code to identify the issue.
    rtrv-log:dir=bkwd:num=50:snum=1251:enum=1254
  3. Check on OCEEMS side if the partition is not full:
    df -hk

Any partition more than 80% should mean an investigation to find which files are taking more space.
You can use "find" command to search for files older than certain days or higher than certain size. Kindly see man pages of find command for its syntax.

  4. Standard deletion/compression times are:
                           - All files older than 2 days in /var/E5-MS/measurement/csvoutput are archived in a compressed (tar.bz2) format
                           - All archived (tar.bz2) files in /var/E5-MS/measurement/csvoutput that are older than 30 days will be deleted.
Check for files older than 2 days or any tar files older than 30 days in the /var/E5-MS/measurement/csvoutput directory (and its subdirectories). It will mean that auto cleanup is not working and it should be resolved.
  5. Check for any other factor limiting the write operations of new files.
  6. Keep an eye on /var/E5-MS/measurement/csvoutput/others folder for:
    - zero size files >>> Check why these files are being generated with no data. If not required, turn off their scheduling.
    - files with some data in this directory >>> if a csv file is in others directory that is not of size zero, that means E5MS does not process such file. In that case, such origination of such files should be stopped at Eagle end. This will help you to reduce the number of files that are scheduled for each interval and will provide more reliable delivery for the files that are actually processed by E5MS.
    - Non-csv files in this directory >>> If non-csv files are present in this directory, that means someone is either putting these files in csvinput or directly into others directory. Both practices should be stopped. csvinput directory should only contain .csv files. If any other file format is found, the E5MS will put it to ../others directory without any processing
    - Periodically delete data from others directory so that it does not have any data. The data in this directory is not being used by E5MS and hence should not be present. The reason it is not deleted automatically is to give a way to O&M personal to optimize their measurements transfer.
