In this Document
Applies to:StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Information in this document applies to any platform. GoalSL150 - How To Prepare the SL150 Library to be Moved or Shipped to Another Location. SolutionThe SL150 can be moved or shipped to another location by the customer. Caution: All of the tape cartridges should be removed from the library before it is moved or shipped to another location. If the SL150 library is uninstalled from the rack to move or shipped elsewhere, remove all of the tape drives need to be removed from the SL150 library prior to movement. The attached document will assist with preparation of the SL150 library for movement and shipping to another location. Note: The document was done with the original SL150 robot which had the older style robot shipping lock that needs to be unscrewed, flipped over and screwed back in to lock the robot for shipping. With the new robots, there is a "Knob" style lock that simply needs to be turned to the locked position. With this knob style lock, make sure the knob is fully turned as far as it can go so that it is fully locked. Not doing so will most likely cause damage to the robot during shipping or moving of the SL150 library. Picture of the newer Knob style lock:
When the SL150 has been shipped or moved successfully you will need to prepare the SL150 to be powered up. To do this, follow the document in reverse order. Start with taking the top right magazine out to take the shipping clip off and then proceed from there. If the tape drives were removed then they will need to be installed back into the SL150 library. All of the tape cartridges will need to be put back into the SL150 library.
