SLC = StorageTek Library Console

Goal

This document provides information on how to uninstall and install StorageTek Library Console (SLC) on a Solaris system.

Solution

  1. Download SLC from Edelivery.oracle.com.
    For complete instructions on how to download SLC, refer to Document 1511569.1 entitled SL500/SL3000/SL8500 - How to Download the SLConsole (SLC).
  2. Open a terminal window in Solaris.
  3. Drop to "bash" using command "/usr/bin/bash" or "exec bash".
  4. Verify directory where SLC is downloaded - RWX permissions and change them accordingly using "chmod 777" command.
  5. First, uninstall previous versions of SLC by following the steps below. (If a previous version is not installed, skip to Step 6).
    1. Locate the installation folder.
    2. Navigate to /STORAGETEKLibraryConsole/Unistall_STORAGETEKLibraryConsole.
    3. Execute command: "./Uninstall\ STORAGETEKLibrayConsole".
      The uninstall process will begin.
  6. Navigate to the folder where SLC is downloaded.
  7. Execute the SLConsole_Solarisxxxxx.bin (where xxxxx is the version of Solaris that is installed on the machine), using the command: "./SLConsole_Solarisxxxxx.bin".
    SLC installation GUI will begin.
