Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 7.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

MP-1A and MP-1B of DSR both show zero connections assigned after DSR 7.0.1 upgrade. All Initiator Connections were configured by customer to one of those 2 MPs and those connections now show an "Unk" (unknown) value for the assigned MP.

Recent Changes:
  1. MP-1A and MP-1B and 2-Tier NOAMs were upgraded from a Gen6 to Gen8 hardware.
  2. DSR were migrated from a 2-tier to 3-tier topology.
  3. All servers were upgraded from DSR 5.0.1 to DSR 7.0.1

Initiator Connections were available on MP-1A and MP-1B before the start of the DSR 7.0.1 upgrade.

Solution

Bug 21356236 is being observed on the 2 MP's as the hostname is 20 characters (AAA-BBBBB-DRA-MP-1A and AAA-BBBBB-DRA-MP-1B).
The limit is supposed to be 20 characters, but there is an off-by-one bug in the code.

The connections that are being shown in Unknown state are hosted on these 2 MPs.

The workaround would be to remove these 2 MP’s from the server group and delete the servers and then re-IPM them and configure them with a smaller hostnames (up to 19 characters).

This bug is fixed in DSR 7.1 release onwards.
