Goal

Determine the latest SL500 firmware and how is it acquire it.

Current library information is the following:

Library Hardware Information
  Library Vendor: STK
  Library Model: SL500
  Serial Number: xxxxxxxxxxxx
  Host Interface: Fibre
Library Active Software Information
  Firmware Version: 1485 (7.14.00)

Solution

There is no patch/firmware to be found externally on My Oracle Support.

The SL500 firmware is not customer installable. An Oracle badge Field Engineer is required for the upgrade process.

Please open a Service Request (SR) in MOS (My Oracle Support) to schedule the upgrade.

Currently, as of January 2018, the latest SL500 firmware version is 1501.

Note: if the SL500 library that needs upgrading is currently running with a firmware version 1395 or lower, specific firmware levels need to be loaded first, prior to loading the 1501 firmware. These steps are outlined for the Field Engineer at the top of the 1501 Release Notes, which are part of the 1501 firmware download in the file "SL500ReleaseNotes_1501_rev01.pdf"
