Launch JAVA RKVM, Start the system from an ISO

Sun Server X4-2 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Oracle Server X5-2 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Oracle Server X6-2 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

- Start the JAVA Graphical Redirection.

- Mount an ISO image to start the System (So that certain rescue tasks can be performed).

Solution

- Launch JAVA RKVM

 - Connect to ILOM WebGUI

  • Username: root
  • Password: changeme

login

 

- Launch using the shortcut from the summary page:

summ_pick

 

- Launch by using the left panel, click on:

  • 1 - Remote Control
  • 2 - Redirection
  • 3 - Launch Remote Console

- Console file can be either downloaded or run immediately (recommended).

It is highly recommended to use Oracle JAVA to run the RKVM. Unexpected behaviour could be found when run using a different JAVA distribution.

 

- Certificate warning can be safely ignored

- Then confirm

- The JAVA RKVM is now up and redirecting video, keyboard and mouse by default

started

 

- Mount the ISO Image

- Click on:

  • 1 - Devices
  • 2 - CD-ROM Image...

- Browse to your ISO file

  • 1 - Select the file
  • 2 - Click Open

- Once the image is mounted, a check will be shown1.  Then click on "Save as host defaults2"
