Solution

The steps to troubleshot alarm 0539 "Ethernet Interface Down" on an IPSG/SLIC card’s FC port are:

1) Verify that affected card’s adapter is inserted into Eagle backplane, that RJ45 connector is inserted properly on its adapter and at PIC switch’s port, and also verify RJ-45 to RJ-45 UTP cable’s physical condition.
2) Identifying faulty PIC Switch Port: Move the cable that comes from IPSG/SLIC card’s affected FC port to a free PIC Switch port.
3) Identified faulty cable: Swap cable IPSG/SLIC card’s FC port A1 with port B1 on both sides, at PIC switches and Eagle backplane’s adapters; then check if the affected FC interface/port is still down or if the other FC interface/port is down now.
4) Identify faulty adapter: Change involved adapter by a spare one, it must have P/N 830-1102-03.
5) Identify faulty card: Replace affected SLIC card part by a spare one.
