Applies to:

Sun Virtual Library Extension (VLE) - Version 1.0 to 1.5 [Release 1.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How long time will it take a VLE with 1200 VMVC to shutdown ?

They need this information, because they will connect VLE to UPS and they want to know how long time (UPS capacity) must supply power.

Solution

Completion time for powering off the VLE server with the "shutdown_vle_system" command, run as 'vleadmin', depends on the number of VMVCs defined as follows:

Note: These times approximate and may vary depending on what VLE release is running.

• 40 VMVCs 5 minutes
• 220 VMVC 19 minutes
• 440 VMVC 36 minutes
• 660 VMVC 53 minutes
• 880 VMVC 79 minutes
• 1200 VMVC approximately 100-110 minutes

The information above can be found in Chapter 3 of the VLE Installation, Configuration, and Service Guide, Version 1.0
