Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 2333087.1 : Receive "Error Code 19231" When Trying To Configure Multi-homed SCTP Connection on Diameter Signaling Router
In this Document
Created from <SR 3-16234304821> Applies to:Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 6.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. GoalWhen trying to add or edit a connection to use SCTP multi-homing, receive the following popup error in the Connection Configuration screen: "[Error Code 19231] - Mixing uni-homed and multi-homed SCTP connections having intersecting IPs with a single local node are not allowed when Connection Mode is Responder Only or Initiator & Responder."
SolutionThis arises when an IP address associated with a Local Node is already used in a SCTP uni-homed connection and attempted to be re-used for another connection being set up as SCTP multi-homed (or vice-versa). As the error indicates, this cannot be configured in this way if the new connection might need to behave as responder since it will conflict with the existing SCTP behavior associated to that IP address. The DSR Diameter User Guide recommends that separate Local Nodes be created for uni-homed hosting and multi-homed hosting to help avoid this circumstance. To resolve, change the new desired connection to align to the existing uni- or multi-homed environment for that address. Alternatively, the existing connections can be changed to re-align to the new desired SCTP strategy or a new Local Node can be introduced to segregate the two SCTP strategies.
NOTE: DSR considers a connection uni-homed or multi-homed based on the number of local IP addresses assigned (one or two, respectively) regardless whether there are one or more remote (Peer) IP addresses assigned for the connection. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
