Goal

How to Configure library for auto clean in SL series and Cleaning procedure for LTO drives in SLConsole.

Solution

Configuring Library for Auto Clean to configure the library for auto clean:

1. Select Tools > System details.

2. Select Library folder from the device tree.

3. Select auto clean> Configure.

4. From the auto clean pull-down menu, select enable.

The warning Threshold is the number of times a cleaning cartridge can be used before a warning message appears to configure the threshold for each cartridge type:

- select number for the threshold from the pull-down of the appropriate cartridge type.

- Select the apply button from the top right corner of the screen.

- select refresh to view the modified configuration.

To view a list of cleaning cartridges:

1. Select Tools > System details

2. Select Library folder from the device tree

3. Select auto clean> Cleaning cartridge

If auto clean is disabled, you may need to manually clean the tape drive.

From SLC console:

1. Select Tools > System details.

2. Select + to expand the drive folder.

3. Select the required tape drive and verify the status of the drive needs cleaning. if this status is "True", then initiate manual clean.
