Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 Library.
- TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The PUF Card Assembly has been determined defective and requires replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: Take the library and drives offline to the system.

Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.

PUF Card Replacement
The PUF card is located on the inside of the library directly behind each PDU. In the instructions below, only remove the PDU that corresponds to the faulty PUF.
Required Tools
■ T15 driver
■ Offset T10 driver
■ ESD protection

Task 1 Removal: Turn Off Power and Remove PDUs
1. Take the library and drives offline.
2. Turn off all PDU power switches.
3. Disconnect the AC power cable from the PDU. Remove the PDU by removing the three T15 screws (see "Remove the PDUs" on page 1-9).
4. Remove all four DC power supplies to the side of the PDU.

Task 2 Removal: Remove System Cell Cartridge Array Plates to Access PUF
1. Open the front access door.
2. In the Base or Drive Module module with the faulty PUF, remove any cartridges below the drive arrays.
3. Starting at the top, remove each cartridge array plate below the drive arrays, and then remove the system cell array plate:
    a. Remove the left cartridge array of the array plate (see "Install or Remove Cartridge Arrays" on page 1-12).
    b. Use a T15 driver to loosen (do not remove) the four screws on the cartridge array plate. The bottom plate in the Drive Module has an additional screw near the bottom-center of the plate.
    c. Lift up and set aside each plate.

Task 3 Removal: Disconnect Cabling and Removing Screws
1. Disconnect P321, P324, P320, P-PWR, and DC power.
2. Remove the thirteen T10 screws. To gain access to the lower four screws, loosen the cable ties connecting the cable bundles to the floor and then use an offset driver.
3. Carefully move the sheet metal plate to the side.
4. Pull the PUF card off the two guide pins (on the right side) and remove the card.
5. Carefully remove the five plastic rivets securing the black card cover. Remove and retain the cover and rivets for re-installation.

Replacement
1. Obtain the new PUF. Using proper ESD protection, re-install the card cover using the five plastic rivets.
2. From inside the library, align the PUF with the two guide pins (on the right).
3. Reinstall the thirteen T10 screws. Reconnect P321, P324, P320, P-PWR, and DC power.
4. Tie wrap the cable bundles on the floor, ensuring they are behind the floor slot.
5. Reinstall the system cell array, placing the tab on the array plate into the floor slot. Then, verify that the slot on the left side aligns with the tab in the frame.
6. Starting at the bottom, reinstall all cartridge array plates. The correct orientation has the edge with the 90 degree bend/lip on the top. The bottom plate has 13 cell arrays, middle plate has 12 cell, and top plate has 11 cell.
7. Replace any tape cartridges that you removed.
8. Reinstall the four DC power supplies.
9. Reinstall the PDU and reconnect the AC power cable.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Verify the library initializes correctly and bring library and drives online.
