Lower Guide Bracket/Switch Assembly Replacement

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 and LTO Tape Drive.
- TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The Switch Assembly has been determined defective and requires replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: Take the library offline to the system.

Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.

Lower Guide Bracket/Switch Assembly Replacement
Required Tools
■ Sheet of paper (or something similar) to cover the holes in the floor
■ Flashlight
■ T25 driver

Removal
1. Take the library offline, and then open the Access Module door.
2. Cover the holes on the floor of the module to avoid losing screws.
3. Disconnect the white connector. Remove the T25 screw on the side of the assembly.
4. Pivot the cover to the side. Disconnect the spring from the lower post (a replacement spring is included with the FRU).
5. Close the cover and reinstall the side screw.
6. Remove the two T25 screws, and then remove the assembly.

Replacement
1. Reverse the removal procedures.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Verify the switch and library initialize correctly and bring library online.
