 Motherboard (LOM) Replacement.

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 Library.
- TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The Motherboard Assembly has been determined defective and requires replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: Take the library offline to the system and power off.

Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.

Motherboard (LOM) Replacement
Required Tools
■ ESD Protection
■ T15 Driver
■ T10 Driver

Removal
You must cold-swap the library motherboard.
1. Power down the library (see "Power Off the Library" on page 3-4).
2. Pull-out (do not completely remove) all quick access cards in the Base Card cage.
3. Open the Base Module front access door. Remove each cartridge array plate below the drive arrays in the Base Module to access the motherboard.
    a. Remove the left cartridge array on the array plate (see "Removing a Cartridge Array" on page 1-12).
    b. Use a T15 driver to loosen the four screws on the cartridge array plate. The bottom plate has an additional screw near the bottom-center of the plate.
    c. Lift up and remove the plate.
4. Disconnect all the cables connected to the motherboard.
5. Remove the three T10 screws to remove the sub card. Set the card aside for re-installation.
6. Remove the seventeen T15 screws securing the motherboard.

Replacement
1. Reverse the removal procedures.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Verify the library will initialize correctly and bring library online.
