 Network Patch Panel (LOEB) Replacement

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 Library.
- TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Metwork Patch Panel has been determined defective and requires replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: The library must be powered off.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.

Network Patch Panel (LOEB) Replacement
Required Tools
■ T15 driver
■ T10 driver

Removal
You must cold-swap the network patch panel.
1. Take the library offline, and then turn the library off (see "Power Off the Library" on page 3-4).
2. Locate the network patch panel (see "Base Card Cage Component Locations" on page 4-11).
3. Label all ethernet cables, and then disconnect them.
4. Remove and retain the two T15 screws securing the network patch panel tray.
5. Partially slide out the card tray. Disconnect the five SAS cable connections — push down on the release and push the SAS connector IN, before pulling (there are tiny locking tabs that release when you push in).
6. Remove the four T10 screws securing the card to the tray.
7. Lift up and remove the card.

Replacement
1. Reverse the removal procedures.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Verify the library comes up and is functional.
