Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 Library.

- Time Estimate: 30 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The Safety Controller card has been determined defective and requires replacement.
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: This part must be cold swapped.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.

Safety Controller (LON) Replacement
Required Tools
■ T15 driver
■ T10 driver

Removal
You must cold-swap the safety controller.
1. Take the library offline, and then turn the library off (see"Power Off the Library"on page 3-4).
2. Locate the safety controller (see"Base Card Cage Component Locations" on page 4-11). Disconnect the emergency power off (EPO) switch, if installed.
3. Remove and retain the two T15 screws securing the controller.
4. Partially slide out the card tray. Disconnect the ten cable connections.

5. Remove and retain the six T10 screws securing the card to the tray.
6. Lift out and remove the safety card.

Replacement
1. Reverse the removal procedures.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Verify the Safety Controller is functional to the library.
