Goal

How to Power Cycle the SL4000 Library Off/On.

Solution

Powering Off the Library:
Many upgrades and FRU replacements are disruptive and require you to turn off the library.

1. Stop any host activity. Ensure all library requests have completed (in the GUI go to the Activity page and verify all requests are complete).
2. Place the library offline.
3. Click Online in the upper right corner of the GUI, and then select Set Library Offline.
4. Click the power button in the upper left corner of the GUI.
5. Select Power Down Library.
6. If performing a conversion bill upgrade, select Probe for configuration changes upon restart.
7. Click Power Down.
8. Open the back doors of the Base Module (and any Drive Modules if present).
9. Turn off the breaker on each PDU.

Powering On the Library:
After turning on the library, the initialization sequence will begin. If someone opened an access door while the library was off, the library performs a full audit.

1. Verify all front access doors are closed.
2. Open the rear doors of the Base Module (and any Drive Modules if present).
3. Turn on the breaker on each PDU.
4. If necessary, turn on the rail controller modules (LOS) at the top of the Base module.
