Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 2310835.1 : FS System: Support Strategy for Replacing a Flash Storage drive with a Higher Capacity drive
In this Document
Applies to:Oracle FS1-2 Flash Storage System - Version 6.2 to All Versions [Release 6.2 to All Releases]Information in this document applies to any platform. GoalExplain why it is necessary to replace certain failed drives with ones that are higher in capacity. SolutionThe 1.6TB SSD and 8TB HDD models of the drives for the FS1-2 are no longer being manufactured and as such their availability is finite. In an effort to extend their availability as long as possible any system running R6.2.14 or higher should use the table below for replacements. NOTE: this only applies to systems running R6.2.14 or higher. Attempting to use these substitutes in systems running lower than R6.2.14 will result in these drives not being recognized.
1 The 7097382 and 7097385 parts are identical except the latter is a "common" kit and contains both marlin and evo brackets. 2 The substitute part replaces a FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) drive with TCG (Trusted Computing Group) for encryption. Customer currently with 1.6TB SSD or 8TB HDD drives are strongly encouraged to upgrade to R6.2.14 or higher in order to be assured that proper replacement parts will be available for them when the time comes.
