Solution 2309008.1 : E5MS SNMP Resync Method Between NMS And E5MS

Goal

We need to test the resync method between an NMS and the E5-MS. In our case, we except to receive the following set command from an NMS:

snmpset -t100 -r0 -v 2c -c private .1.3.6.1.4.1.323.5.3.24.2.1.1.0 integer 1

As indicated in the Oracle Documentation ("EAGLE_Element_Management_System_Interface_User_Guide_910-6752-001_rev_b").

What do we need to do on the E5-MS until this command can work?

Are there are some particular configuration to execute on the system?

In the manual, there is not a detailed description to accomplish this task, the only actions requested is to configure the IP Address or Hostname of that NMS in the SNMP E5MS NBI GUI. Is it enough?

Solution

The configurations mentioned in the E5MS Interface user Guide are enough.

E5MS is configured to receive set/get command on a specific port (i.e. 8002).

Port 161 is used to communicate (send get/set commands) to EPAP/LSMS/EAGLE by E5MS.

Trying to NAT all message (e.g. dest Port equal to 161) to port 8002 will mean changes to E5MS standard implementation.

As the system is here working as designed so you will have to follow the Enhancement request path via your Technical Account Manager.

Under TAC scope we cannot make changes to the standard system implementation.
