Goal

 How to replace the Control Panel Keypad.

Solution

 DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 Library.
- TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Control Panel Keypad has been determined defective and requires replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: Library must be offline to the system.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.

Removal
1. Take the library offline, and then open the Base Module access door.
2. Remove the top six cartridge arrays from the door to access the operator panel cabling.
3. Disconnect the Display Control cable from the operator panel.
4. Take the library offline, and then open the front door of the Base module.
5. On the inside of the door, remove the 6 cartridge arrays to access the rear of the op panel (for a diagram see removal step 3 in "Local Operator Touch Panel Replacement" on page 5-1)
6. From the front face of the door, peel off the keypad.

Replacement
1. Remove adhesive backing from new keypad.
2. Route the cable through the hole. Press the keypad into the groove of the front bezel.
3. Connect the Display control cable to the operator panel.
4. Reinstall the cartridge arrays.
5. Close the front door and bring the library online.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Bring Library online and verify the functional of the keypad  to the library.
