Goal

 How to replace a CAP assembly in SL4000 library.

Solution

 DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 library.
- TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The CAP assembly has been determined defective and requires replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: Library must be taken offline and powered off.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.

The CAP assembly is the entire rotational CAP and motor.

Required Tools
T15 driver
T25 driver

Removal
1. Take the library offline, and then turn the library off (see "Power Off the Library" on page 3-4).
2. Remove the decorative front cover at the top of the CAP by pulling the lower corners out and up.
3. Remove the two T15 screws that attach the EMC cover. Remove the cover.
4. Disconnect the connector P/J328 and pull out the cable that is routed through the hole.
5. Enter the library and locate the faulty CAP assembly. At the top of the CAP, disconnect the CAP power cable (P315) on both sides of the CAP.
6. Remove four T25 screws — two at the top of the CAP and two at the bottom.
7. The CAP assembly hangs from the hooks in the frame. Lift up and remove the CAP assembly.

Replacement
1. Follow "Mounting the CAP Assembly" on page 1-41 and "Connecting the Cables" on page 1-42.
2. Turn on the library.
3. Test the CAP by opening and closing the CAP.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Power on library, bring online and verify functionality of the CAP.
