Goal

 How to replace a Robot Module in a Library With an Access Module.

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 Library.
- TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Robot has been determined defective and requires replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: Library must be offline to the system.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.

WARNING: Do not replace a robot by removing the side cover. Always enter the library through the front door. Opening the front door cuts power to the robot.

Required Tools
T15 driver

Removal

1. Insert and turn the Service Request key to the right. The WAIT LED will flash as the safety door moves into place.
2. Once the WAIT LED is off and the ENTER LED is on, open the Access Module door.
3. Move the robot to the end of the module.
4. Disengage the rail brushes by pulling the latch away from the upper rail.
5. Loosen the T15 captive screws on the upper assembly.
6. Pull straight-down on the upper assembly.
7. Tilt the top of the robot assembly away from the upper rail.
WARNING:
Do not replace a robot by removing the side cover.  Always enter the library through the front door. Opening the front door cuts power to the robot.
8. Lift up on the robot to remove the lower pre-load assembly from the lower rail.

Replacement
1. Follow the procedures in "Add a Robot" on page 1-44.
2. Close the Access Module door.
3. Turn the Service Request key to the left, and then remove the key. The WAIT LED will flash while the safety door moves out of the way.
4. Verify the safety door has returned to the stored position (WAIT LED is off).

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Bring Library back online and verify robot is functional to the system.
