Goal
How to replace Robot Module in a SL4000 Library Without an Access Module.

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiar with the SL4000 and LTO Tape Drive.
- TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Robot has been determined defective and requires replacement
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: Library must be offline to the system.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:
Note: Refer to the SL4000 Install and Service Manual for additional details as needed.
WARNING: Do not replace a robot by removing the side cover. Always enter the library through the front door. Opening the front door cuts power to the robot.
Required Tools
T15 driver
Removal
1. Take the library offline, and then open the front access door.
2. Move the robot to the left column (when looking at the rear wall) of the Base or Drive Module. These columns allow space at the bottom to remove the lower pre-load assembly.
3. Disengage the rail brushes by pulling the latch away from the upper rail.
4. Loosen the T15 captive screws on the upper assembly.
5. Pull straight-down on the upper assembly.
6. Tilt the top of the robot assembly away from the upper rail.
7. Lift up on the robot to remove the lower pre-load assembly from the lower rail.
8. To exit the library with the robot, tilt the bottom out and exit through the front access door.
Replacement
1. Follow the procedures in "Add a Robot" on page 1-44.
2. Close the access door.
3. Verify the library initializes correctly, and then bring the library online.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Bring Library back online and verify robot is functional to the system.
