Information in this document applies to any platform.

Have a customer who is accessing IBM LTO-6 drives in SL8500 from a AIX server.
They want to have fail over path when accessing the IBM LTO-6 drives from the AIX server.
Currently, the driver they have on the AIX server does not permit them to do so. Hence, they want Oracle to provide an IBM LTO-6 driver on AIX that has fail-over capability.
We have informed the customer to get the drivers from "https://www-945.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/" or to contact IBM which they did. However, the response they got from IBM was " It is for Oracle to provide drivers ".

Goal

IBM LTO-6 - Driver for AIX Operating System, Wants to Have Fail Over Path.

Solution

IBM charges their customers for the special fail over driver so Oracle has decided not to supply that driver to our customers because we would have to pay a license fee for each one to IBM.

For Oracle IBM LTO drives, we only support manual fail over.
