Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 2282058.1 : Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance: Using Deduplication with Replication
In this Document
Created from <SR 3-15126486441> Applies to:Oracle ZFS Storage ZS5-2 - Version All Versions and laterOracle ZFS Storage ZS5-4 - Version All Versions and later Oracle ZFS Storage ZS4-4 - Version All Versions and later Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Racked System ZS4-4 - Version All Versions and later Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-2 - Version All Versions and later 7000 Appliance OS (Fishworks) GoalWhen to potentially use deduplication with replication SolutionReplication with deduplication can be potentially used in a couple situations.
1. When the data is not encrypted For when the data is not encrypted, the checksum needs to be set to sha256, or the dedup needs to be enabled for the share or LUN when the data was stored to disk. pool1/local/myproject checksum sha256-mac local
2. When the data is encrypted For when the data is encrypted, the encryption mode needs to be set to one of the CCM values (AES-128-CCM, AES-192-CCM, AES-256-CCM) (not GCM), and dedup enabled for the share or LUN when the data was stored. pool1/local/myproject encryption aes-256-ccm local pool1/local/myproject dedup on local
If this is not the case, replication should work but can be slower.
