Goal

If the customer is only upgrading a xMF or an IXP to PIC 10.2.1 while keeping the NSP on 10.2.0, the apply changes after major upgrade is going to fail with the following error: "Failed to get connection to the master database"

This issue is caused by the version of Oracle database client used on the xMF/IXP versus NSP

Solution

To fix the issue run the following command as root on the xMF or IXP after the major upgrade and before applying configuration:

# ln -s /usr/lib/oracle/12.1/ /usr/lib/oracle/11.2
