Applies to:StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and laterLTO Tape Drive - Version All Versions and later Information in this document applies to any platform. Total EWI Count: 3 Warning Reason(s): ghost_drive_at_502 ghost_drive_at_503 ghost_drive_at_504 GoalDefinition of a Ghost Drive in the library. SolutionIf the customer was running the default config of "Addressing All Drive Slots" and they change or replace a drive, then they might have "Ghost" drives show up in the configuration details of the SL150, until they reboot. The support action states that if the customer changes the setting to "Address Only Installed Drives" then it will clear the "Ghost" drive from the config. It should be mentioned that if 'Address Only Installed Drives' is used, then any loss of a drive may cause the host to re-address the drives when a new one is added, thus changing SCSI addresses. This means that the customer will need to reconfigure the drives on the host to see them correctly. This means drives can't safely be hot-plugged when this option is set and why 'Address All Drive Slots' is the default. Reference Chapter 4 of the StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library User's Guide for more details.
Typically, in the config tab, when you have a Ghost drive, you can see a drive that is valid that has all of the fields populated and then a drive, with the same S/N, that doesn't have any of the fields populated... that one is the "Ghost" drive.
