Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Replacement of E5-ENETB card by a SLIC card on Eagle release 46.3 or higher.

Solution

To replace a E5-ENETB card by a SLIC card, follow "IP SIGTRAN on E5-ENET/E5-ENET-B" procedure from Maintenance Guide in accordance with your Eagle release:

EAGLE 46.3: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E76234_01/docs.463/E72209_rev_1.pdf

EAGLE 46.4: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E79793_01/docs.464/E79834_rev_2.pdf

But applying following modifications to said procedure:

  1. Skip step 3 and 12 from "IP SIGTRAN on E5-ENET/E5-ENET-B" procedure because inh-slk and unhb-slk commands are not applicable for IPSG-M3UA and IPGW links.
  2. Steps from 8 to 10 from "IP SIGTRAN on E5-ENET/E5-ENET-B" procedure are replaced by following ones:

8. Issue the command to verify GPL versions.

rept-stat-gpl:loc=XXXX

Where xxxx is the location of the replaced card.

The following is an example of a possible output.

eaglestp YY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss TTTT EAGLE XX.x.x-YY.yy.y
  GPL CARD RUNNING APPROVED TRIAL
  IPSG XXXX ----------- XXX-XXX-XXX XXX-XXX-XXX
  ZZZZZZ YYY-YYY-YYY YYY-YYY-YYY YYY-YYY-YYY

  Command Completed.

Where ZZZZZZ is the Flash GPL name (BLIXP, BLMCAP, BLSLC32 etc..). If Flash GPL is not getting displayed, then wait for the card to be back on IMT and run the command again.

9. Examine the output from Step 8.

Refer to Corrective Maintenance to clear any Flash GPL related alarms on the newly replaced card before continuing.

10. Enter the following command to put the card back into service.

alw-card:loc=xxxx

Where xxxx is the card location used in Step 6.

Following is an example of a possible output.

Command Accepted - Processing
eagle3 02-01-18 18:02:20 EST EAGLE5 41.2.0-62.69.65
alw-card:loc=1112
Command entered at terminal #1.
;
eagle3 02-01-18 18:02:20 EST EAGLE5 41.2.0-62.69.65
Card has been allowed.
;
eagle3 02-01-18 18:02:20 EST EAGLE5 41.2.0-62.69.65
Command Completed.
;

"IP SIGTRAN on E5-ENET/E5-ENET-B" procedure of Maintenance Guide will contain these changes in next GA Eagle release planned.
