Applies to:

Oracle Server X5-4 - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Customer unable to boot from a PCI network card during installation.

The card could not be selected in the menu boot list, it was simply not listed in this specific menu but it was recognized by BIOS and ILOM:

System/PCI_Devices/Add-on/Device_3
description = Sun Dual 10GbE SFP+ PCIe 2.0 Low Profile Adapter
location = PCIE3 (PCIe Slot 3)

Solution

To allow for booting the Option ROM needs to be enabled in I/O menu in BIOS:

Checking BIOS menu:

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E56388_01/html/E56396/gnvlw.html#XOSSMgnthd

BIOS -> Menu I/O -> Add In card -> select PCI slot > select Enabled.

Save the change and the card can be now selected in the BIOS Menu list.
