Goal

Performed the procedure 5 but errors message appeared as below by applying the commands on eth01, eth02, eth05 and eth06.

(Bond0 = eth01,eth02 / Bond1 = eth05,eth06).

[root@hostname upgrade]# netAdm set --device=eth05 --ringBufferRx=4096 --ringBufferTx=4096
ERROR: Desired ringBufferRx: 4096 Actual: 200
ERROR: Specified ethtool_opts could not be set!
ERROR: Failed to bring eth05 back up
ERROR: Failed to restart eth05
Interface eth05 updated

Solution

Ehternet cards being used are not the intended ones

Procedure 5, Step 8 Says:
The following commands will increase the ring buffer sizes on...HP DL380 Gen 9 Ethernet Interfaces:
Note: Refer to Section 3.4 for network interface server reference table

Now looking at Section 3.4
Note:
For HP DL380 Gen 9 servers
two 2pt 10 Gigabit PCI cards are required while running the segregated signaling network topology
otherwise one 2pt 10 Gigabit PCI card is required

For HP DL380 (with 2pt 10 Gigabit in PCI Slots 1 and 3) (Gen 9)
Following network interfaces have been mentioned:
<ethernet_interface_1> eth11 (ethernet slot 1, port 1)
<ethernet_interface_2> eth12 (ethernet slot 1, port 2)
<ethernet_interface_3> eth31 (ethernet slot 3, port 1)
<ethernet_interface_4> eth32 (ethernet slot 3, port 2)

From available information the HPGen9 built in 1Gb ethernet cards are used while document is expecting 2 port 10 Gigabit Cards.

Check if the server has 10 Gb PCI card available as required in section 3.4 (and mentioned above)
