REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Fan failure
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
DAMAGE ALERT: Perform a visual inspection of the replacement part to make sure that there are no damaged components, connectors, bent pins, damaged packages during shipping, etc. If the part is damaged, don't install it into the system, order a new part. Handle with caution and package carefully the return part to avoid any damages during shipping.
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED:
Take ESD Precautions
A. Remove a Fan Module
1. Perform the preliminary steps required for cold service procedures.
2. Extend the server to the maintenance position.
3. Attach an antistatic wrist strap.
4. Remove the top cover.
5. Disconnect the hard drive fan power cable from the signal interface board.
6. Lift the hard drive fan up and out of the chassis.
B. Install a Fan Module
1. Align the hard drive fan to the location where it installs into the chassis. The arrow is on the top and is pointing towards the power supplies. The power cable is toward the motherboard.
2. Lower the hard drive fan into the chassis & attach it's cable to the signal interface board.
3. Install the top cover.
4. Slide the server into the rack.
5. Connect the power cords.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Verify functionality, no service LEDs or messages
PARTS NOTE: 351-0012 Disk Drive Fan FM5 (same part for both the Netra T3-1 & T4-1)
