Goal

 How to Remove and Replace a Non-Functional HBS card in a SL8500

Solution

- TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:  The rail needs to offline and powered off.
- WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:

Preparation: HBS Modules for an eight-HandBot library require special firmware and matching HandBots for proper operation.. Verify that the replacement HBS module part number is appropriate for the library. Also, HBS modules usable on eight-HandBot libraries have an "X" stamped in the upper left corner of the face place.

1. Open the library rear doors

2. Set the circuit breaker to the down/off position

3. Remove the two T15 screws retaining the module

4. Pull the module by the handle to unseat the connector, and slide the module completly out of the slot.

5. Push the replacement module fully into the slot until the connector is seated

6. Insert and tighten the two T15 screws to retain the module

7. Set the Circuit Breaker to the up/on position

8. Verify that the greed LED indicating Power is on and the red (fault ) LED is off.

Note: The remaining LED's may flicker as the HandBots send and receive commands.


- WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:  Power the rail back up and bring it online to the library.
