GoalHow to Replace a Fan Backplane (FANBP) in a Fujitsu M12-2/M12-2S SolutionCAP PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty M12 Fan Backplane DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?) DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: TASK COMPLEXITY: 2 Time Estimate: 60 minutes FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : If 1BB configuration the replacement procedure will be System Stopped/Cold. If > 1BB configuration have the choice of Active/Cold, Inactive/Cold, System Stopped/Cold WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: I. SYSTEM STOPPED/COLD REPLACEMENT STEPS FOR 1BB CONFIGURATIONS 1. Shutdown all Solaris instances and power "off" the system. XSCF> poweroff -a XSCF> showpparstatus -a 2. Remove power cables 3. Remove all FAN units prior to starting with the removal steps for the FANBP. For FAN removal steps see 2234766.1 4. Remove 3 captive screws. Two on left and 3rd inside FAN#7 housing (bottom-right) 5. Hold the FANBP at the 2 handling positions and pull out of the chassis. 6. Installation is the reverse of the above procedure.
II. INACTIVE/COLD REPLACEMENT STEPS FOR > 1BB CONFIGURATIONS 1. Check status of PPARs and LDOMs XSCF> showpparstatus -a XSCF> showdomainstatus -a 2. Stop the physical partition -Checking the operation status of physical partitions XSCF> showpparstatus -a
XSCF> showdomainstatus -p <ppar_id>
XSCF> showboards -p <ppar_id>
XSCF> poweroff -p <ppar_id>
XSCF> showpparprogress -p <ppar_id>
XSCF> showpparstatus -a
3 Release the target BB from running config XSCF> replacefru
With a number key, select the BB requiring maintenance 4. Confirm standby LED on XSCFU and power off breaker 5. Remove power cables 6. Remove all FAN units prior to starting with the removal steps for the FANBP. For FAN removal steps see 2234766.1 7. Remove 3 captive screws. Two on left and 3rd inside FAN#7 housing (bottom-right) 8. Hold the FANBP at the 2 handling positions and pull out of the chassis. 9. Physical installation is the reverse of the above procedure. 10. After connecting the cables of the SPARC M12-2S that has undergone maintenance to the building block configuration, connect the power cable and add the building block back into config by finishing the "replacefru" procedure. Do not enter “f" before the READY LED on the XSCFU begins to blink. 11. When adding Building Block back into config will query if want to diagnose. Select "s" to test the added BB. In the below example BB#0 was used. Do you want to start to diagnose BB#0?[s:start|c:cancel] : 12. Check the hardware diagnosis result 13. End the replacefru by hitting "c" for cancel. 14. Checking the FRU Status After Maintenance XSCF> showstatus XSCF> showhardconf 15. Power on all the physical partitions. XSCF> poweron -a
Verify with XSCF> showpparstatus -a
III. ACTIVE/COLD REPLACEMENT STEPS FOR > 1BB CONFIGURATIONS Please see Service Manual for Active/Cold steps. OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: 1. Boot & check for full functionality 2.Checking the FRU Status After Maintenance XSCF> showstatus XSCF> showhardconf XSCF> showpparstatus -p <ppar_id> XSCF> showdomainstatus -p <ppar_id> 3. Have customer check the Operation Status of Physical Partitions and Logical Domains
