Goal
There is a request to change domain name for Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) on Exalytics server. What are the steps and sequence to make the changes so that new domain name is reflected in all the configurations and settings ?
Solution
To implement this, please follow the below steps:
- Stop EPM and DB services.
- Take cold backup of DB and EPM full file system.
- Update the new hostname for DB & EPM server. Assuming there is no change in the DB port and scan name.
- On the machine hosting shared service. Run Home:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\EPMSystem_hostname\bin\configtool.bat. Select only configure database option.
- Select foundation --> Configure database--> "Connect to a previously configured Shared Services database" and enter the new database connection information.(There will not be any change in the database connection details if there is no change in DB port and the scan name).
- If prompted to choose whether to Drop and recreate tables or Reuse the existing database. Select Reuse the existing database.
- Perform step 5 & 6 on all the EPM components installed servers. Continue the configuration, and then click Finish when done.
- Repeat the same step on other EPM components other than share service.
- New hostname for EPM can be updated by following command
run epmsys_registry.bat|.sh updatehost oldHostName newHostName.
- Update the datasoures in the weblogic console with new database connection references.
- Restart all the EPM components.
- Run epm-registry or validate.bat report to check if there are any old references.
