How to request a Library Firmware Upgrade on the SL8500 and SL3000 Tape Libraries.

Solution and the importance of keeping the library firmware up to date.

Solution

To request a Library firmware upgrade, open a My Oracle Support (MOS) Service Request against the Library Serial Number, attach a current Log Snapshot (reference Doc ID 1377490.1) and request an Oracle Field Engineer to contact you to schedule the firmware upgrade. Please indicate if you have a dedicated FE to perform the upgrade and preferred date and time (if known).

It is highly recommended that the Library firmware be kept at current version levels. Each major release of firmware include fixes and enhancements that can help avoid unnecessary system interruptions. By keeping the library firmware up to date we can improve library reliability and improve library serviceability.

The latest versions are:

SL8500: 8.60 (Released 12/07/2017)

SL3000: 4.50 (Released 02/06/2018)
