In this Document
Oracle Confidential PARTNER - Available to partners (SUN). Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. There have been several incidents recently due to the failure to follow the required steps when installing FRS-8.51 code. The issues are potentially serious. This was discussed in previous SWAT notes and is part of the release notes. Please review the summary below, the attached MOS KB 2119349.1 and the FRS-8.51 Release Notes containing the installation instructions. This affects any Non-Partitioned configuration. Partitioned libraries do not have this exposure. GoalSL8500 - - Important - Follow Directions when Installing FRS-8.51 Code SolutionProblems in FRS-8.51 firmware were identified that can have serious impacts after installation. - After installing FRS-8.51 code in a non-partitioned multi-library complex the CAPs may fail to come online. - After installing the code in any non-partitioned configuration the SL8500 will boot OK. However, after a subsequent reboot, at any time, the partition file will be corrupted and the library will fail to come ready. To eliminate the exposure we are going to modify the code upgrade procedures with the additional steps below. These steps will be added to the next generation of the 8.51 release notes noted as V4 (now V5 and attached). Note: If you have already upgraded to 8.51 contact Backline Support for further assistance. There is an exposure to a dormant issue that could impact the library after the next reboot.
