Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 7.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Goal of this article is to show how to reset or change a Graphical User Interface (GUI) user password on Diameter Signaling Router (DSR).

Solution

If a Graphical User Interface (GUI) user password becomes unknown (forgotten, changed, lost) on Diameter Signaling Router (DSR), it can be reset two ways:

(1)  If another GUI user ID with a known password can be found, as long as it belongs to a group that has administrative rights for users then this can be used to correct the problem.  After logging into the active Network Operations, Administration, Maintenance, and Provisioning (NOAMP) as that known user, navigating to Main Menu / Administration / Access Control / Users screen will allow the user to change it.  See the online help or the Access Control section of the DSR Operations Administration and Maintenance (OAM) Guide for your applicable release at http://docs.oracle.com/en/industries/communications/diameter-signaling-router/index.html for more detailed information.

(2)  If all GUI users with administrative rights are locked out, open an SR with the Oracle DSR TAC team to reset the user through command-line means.  Oracle DSR TAC will need to have SSH access to the active NOAMP server and root user.

To change the password via command-line, log in as root user to the active NOAMP server and execute the following:

  [root@activeNOAMP ~]#  /usr/TKLC/appworks/sbin/resetPassword <user_ID_to_resetPW>

Then type in the new password as prompted.

[Note: article written for external visibility, but since uncertain whether "back-door" PW reset should be opened to customers directly opted to limit visibility of this section]
